Family Law KC of the Year

June has been nominated for the prestigious award of Family Law KC of the Year. For June to have been nominated is an indication of how highly considered she is within the legal profession and within the areas in which she specialises.

June’s nomination also reflects the serious and complex cases in which she has been involved. It is particularly notable that she was mentioned in the landmark case of Re H-N and Others (children) (domestic abuse: finding of fact hearings) [2021] EWCA Civ 448.

During that hearing before the court of appeal, the President of the family division referred to the sound observations that Miss Venters' had made about the statutory defence of 'loss of self-control,’ in an earlier law reported case, over which he had also presided, namely Re R (Children) [2018] EWCA Civ 198. Ultimately, in that case, the court of appeal had agreed with Miss Venters’ submissions which were that it is fundamentally wrong for the Family Court Judgment to be drawn into an analysis of factual evidence in proceedings relating to the welfare of children based upon criminal law principles and concepts. As is evident from the decision of Re H-N and Others that has universal application to all cases involving parallel criminal and family proceedings and has changed the entire approach the courts need to adopt when hearing such cases, as re-enforced by this recent decision.

June specialises in all aspects of family law involving children including re-location and international child abduction as well as private law disputes and in particular disputes involving implacable hostility of one parent against, known also as parental alienation cases and child protection.
