Each year, the Family Mediation Council (FMC) dedicates a week to raising the awareness of family mediation and how it can benefit separating couples.
This year it takes place between 26-30th January 2026.
In this article we talk about what free resources are available for you during the week to help you understand the mediation process and its benefits over settling family and children law disputes in Court.
During the Family Mediation Week, the FMC host a range of online webinars and in person events which are free to attend. Full details of all of the events are below

To show our support for the family mediation week, Venters Mediation are offering you a free 15 minute consultation between 3-5pm on Monday 26th January. In this time, we can discuss how mediation may be able to assist with your particular family / children law issue so that you can decide whether mediation may be suitable for you.

Venters Mediation offer a full range of mediation services including finance and children mediations.
The head of Venters Mediation, Elsbeth Wells has the status of Senior Mediator which is the 'gold star' qualification for family mediation and is the most senior qualification in the field of mediation. Elsbeth is also qualified to run Child-Inclusive mediation for those who wish to have the voices of their children heard in the process.
Also in the team is Mediator, Melissa Jacey. Melissa completed the Family Mediation Association Foundation Course and has full FMCA accreditation with the Family Mediation Council.
Elsbeth and Melissa are fully recognised by the Legal Aid Agency and Family Mediation Council to carry out all mediation issues relating to Finance, Property and Children, both with privately paying clients and those eligible for 'Legal Aid'. They endeavour to approach cases with empathy and understanding, to assist families in forming amicable resolutions to their issues and concerns.
